There’s no “PTO” when your coworkers are two toddlers who call you Mommy.
Working mothers.
It’s a Wednesday afternoon. I’m toggling between Slack messages, a Google Meet process call, and calming a meltdown over a broken chalk. The meeting notes are open, but so is the fruit snack wrapper I just peeled open with one hand while smiling and nodding into the camera on mute.
Working from home as a mom of toddlers doesn’t come with a pause button. There’s no commute to decompress, no clear line between “work” and “home.” It’s all here in one space, at the same time.
Some days, I’m a:
✅ Marketing strategist
✅ Project manager
✅ Snack negotiator
✅ Cuddle-on-demand provider
✅ Lead generator
✅ Storytime facilitator
✅ Proposal writer
✅ Conflict resolution coach
And I do it all from the same desk. In the same house.
When we talk about working moms, let’s acknowledge this:
We’re often running three full-time jobs at once: business owner or employee, household manager, and active parent. All before facilitating dinner.
It’s not easy. But it’s powerful.
Because every time I lead a team call while wiping tiny fingerprints off my screen,
I hope I’m showing my kids what leadership looks like. I pray they see the work ethic and the commitment. I hope their futures are better because of it.
Every time I shift from CEO mode to bedtime snuggles, I’m proving that excellence isn’t confined to a calendar.
If you’re a working parent navigating this wild blend of ambition, motherhood, and grace, know that I see you. You’re doing more than enough.
