Welcome to On Brand: The Wellness Edit
Hey friends, I’m excited to invite you to this space for intentional living, mindful practices, and balanced growth together. Whether your run your business full time, hustle after hours on the side or just starting to explore mindfulness in general, this space is for you.
The Wellness Edit isn’t just a newsletter—I want to build a platform for living a life that’s aligned with your values and your purpose. To be honest, I’m learning through this experience too, so I’ll be sharing my own essays on living authentically. I fell in love with yoga and meditation when I was pregnant for the first time with my daughter during the pandemic. I found peace on my mat that helped ground me during the most uncertain of times. After I gained my yoga certification, I experienced a new passion for life, leading people into flows for more self-awareness and self-compassion. I still come back to my mat regularly to find balance and to practice self-love in motion.
Here, you can expect insights, tools, and strategies to help you nurture your mind, body, and soul, all while cultivating a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you. From mindful living tips to practical steps you can take today to breath deeper, walk lighter and release the tension from our everyday lives. The Wellness Edit is here to help you thrive.
To kick off this journey, I’m sharing 10 Tips for Mindful Mornings—practical steps that can help you start your day with intention and set a peaceful tone for everything that follows. Take what you need and apply it to your morning tomorrow.
10 Tips for Mindful Mornings
Wake Up Slowly
Start your day by gently waking up, avoiding the urge to immediately check your phone or rush through your morning routine. Change that alarm sound to something you may actually enjoy listening to. Take a few deep breaths, ease into a child’s pose right from your spot in that comfy bed, and offer a prayer of gratitude for the new day.Dance it Out
Dancing in the morning will release endorphins (feel-good hormones) that help reduce stress and anxiety, leaving you feeling happier and more positive and loosening your stiff muscles and joints. Whether it’s a full-on dance party or just a few minutes of swaying to your favorite song, starting your day with movement can transform your mindset and energy.Journal for Clarity
Spend 5–10 minutes journaling your thoughts, feelings, or things you're grateful for. Journaling helps clear mental clutter and allows you to focus on what truly matters.Drink Warm Lemon Water
Starting your day with warm lemon water will stimulate your digestive system which can aid in smoother digestion. This morning habit can also help flush out toxins and promote feelings of fullness, potentially reducing overall calorie intake.
Practice Deep Breathing
Move to a quiet spot in your home. I have my favorite chair pointed to our large window in the sitting room so that I can watch the warm glow of the sunrise if I’m up early enough. In this chair, I love to take 3–5 minutes to focus on my breath. Inhale deeply for a count of 4, hold for 4, then exhale for a count of 4. This stills my mind and prepares me for a peaceful, intentional day.Enjoy a PFF Breakfast
What you eat in the morning is directly related to your energy levels for the rest of the day. An easy formula to remember for your first meal is PFF: protein, fiber, fat. When combined, protein, fiber, and fat work together to keep you energized, focused, and satisfied throughout the morning. Unlike carb-heavy breakfasts that can cause energy crashes, this balanced approach helps with stable blood sugar levels, better digestion, and reduced cravings.A great example? Avocado toast with eggs on whole-grain bread or Greek yogurt with chia seeds and nut butter.
Stretch or Do Gentle Yoga
Incorporate a few simple stretches or a short yoga flow to wake up your body. This helps release tension and increases blood flow, setting a grounded tone for your day. Some of my favorite morning poses are: child’s pose, supine figure-4 on both legs, thread the needle and downward dog.Practice a Guided Meditation
If you have time to sit or lay still try a guided meditation. This is a great way to redirect any unhelpful thoughts you may have in the mornings. Whether it’s 5 minutes or 15, a guided meditation can help you set the tone for a calm, mindful day. There are plenty of resources available, or you could tune into my podcast here to listen to a few meditations.Get Natural Sunlight
Even if it’s just for a few minutes, stepping outside for fresh air and sunlight can boost your mood and increase your energy. Getting outdoor light (instead of just artificial light) helps regulate eye development and may reduce the risk of eye strain, headaches, and even nearsightedness over time. Morning light also helps regulate key hormones like cortisol, melatonin, and serotonin, which are essential for stress management, sleep, and overall well-being.Plan Your Day with Intention
Before jumping into tasks, take a few moments to prioritize your day. Ask yourself: What’s the number one most important thing I want to accomplish today? Setting clear intentions will help you stay focused and mindful throughout the day.
A good start to your day is a game changer. It makes me feel empowered to own my morning before all the noise and demands start to build up. Starting your day mindfully is one of the best ways to maintain peace and balance, even amidst life’s busy moments. I’ll continue to share more tips, practices, and inspiration for creating a life that feels good, aligned, and abundant.
